I only attended Sunday of weekend one this year. The main bands that I had hoped to see were Billy Strings, Mumford and Sons, and Kacey Musgraves. Billy Strings and Mumford and Sons were excellent, as I expected. But Kacey Musgraves was logistically difficult, so I spent that time slot at an unexpectedly good set by Bruce Hornsby and the Noisemakers. Other acts that I saw included Cleopatrick, Nilüfer Yanya, Thomas Csorba, Idles, Koffee, Rebelution, and Griz. Here is a review and an interview with Billy Strings following his set.
Eric Krasno Trio (with Billy Strings and Sue Foley) and Shaws of Awe & Medicine Man Revival 10/5/19 Empire Garage The Eric Krasno Trio included Eric Finland and Eric Kalb. The performance moved to an incredibly high level with guests Sue Foley and then Billy Strings on electric guitar. It was one of my top shows this year. Bobby Rush with Carl Weathersby 9/26/19 Antone's You would never know that bluesman Bobby Rush is 85 years old by his apperance, playing, and somewhat suggestive show. Opener Carl Weathersby is also a veteran blues guitarist, who unfortunately a few weeks after the show ran into some major health problems. There is a GoFundMe page to help him out. Here are my photos from the show.
Joe Russo's Almost Dead 9/14/19 ACL Live Considered by many to be one of the best Dead cover bands, they played a high energy set of mostly Dead songs or songs covered by the Dead.
